Group Paper : Group participants will be assigned a topic to do their paper and presentation on. It should be 900 to 1000 words in length. The paper should be: â–¡double-spaced (do not use enters after every line, use the double-space feature) â–¡12 pt. font â–¡Times New Roman font â–¡1-inch margins on all sides â–¡Written in 3rd person â–¡Use at least five references (internet, books, whatever), except do not use Wikipedia (many things are good in Wikipedia, but anyone can contribute). â–¡Use MLA format (cite references properly) â–¡A cover sheet without headers (with title, your name, AG 201-(section #) World Food & Society, date turned in and word count). I know that MLA does not have cover sheets, but it also gives discretion to the instructor. Since you have a cover sheet, I do NOT want you to have the information at the top of the paper, in a header, etc. as MLA prescribes. â–¡If you are over or under the word count* by a little, your grade will be dinged a little. If you give me the wrong word count on the cover sheet, you will be dinged more. â–¡Submit one MS Word file containing the requested information *To determine the word count in MS Word 2003, highlight the words in the body of the paper, click on Tools (Menu Bar), then click Word Count. Using Office 2007 highlight the text, and look at the lower left of the screen for the word count. Record the results of the word count near the bottom of the cover sheet. The grade will be based on: â–¡Content â–¡Grammatical correctness (references properly cited) â–¡Formatted properly as described above â–¡I also look for an introduction and conclusion, and a thesis statement in the right place Assignment Goal: Improve writing skills; learn to be concise in writing; learn proper citation methods; learn to follow instructions. Be sure to check the following before submitting your paper â–¡A cover sheet with the information requested above, including an accurate word count â–¡A “Works Cited†page (last page) with complete references used in the text â–¡All references properly cited in the text Group Presentation : The presentations should be no less than 24 PowerPoint slides long. The last two slides should have four True-False and four Multiple-choice questions about the presentation. Answers to the questions must be covered in the presentation. Emphasize the most important points in your presentation. Your presentations will be posted on the class web site and you will be responsible for knowing the answers to the questions on the final. I may use some of the same questions that are on the presentations, or I may modify some. Presentations should not be larger than 4 Mb. The grades for the presentation will be based on the following: â–¡Content â–¡Quality of the slides â–¡Grammar and structure â–¡Quality of the questions â–¡Participation (as determined by teammates) Assignment Goal: Develop communication skills; present pertinent information to the class. Questions from the book: I have a list of questions from each chapter that may or may not have been covered by the Power Point Presentation.
