For this assignment, students are responsible for selecting a recent (an event that occurred on or after January 15, 2020) criminal justice related current event from a reputable source (e.g., ABC News, CNN, Fox News, CBS, New York Times, etc.). After selecting, reading and annotating the article, students are required to demonstrate their understanding by
a. Providing a summary of the article (20 points)

b. Discussing how the current article relate to the course material. More specifically, here you must highlight and discuss the criminal justice system’s role in the event, and when relevant connect the event to material covered in the course (20 points)
c. What effect do you believe this event have on society? (10 points)
This assignment must include a title page documenting the article’s name, date, source, writer’s name and a link to the article, must be type (in 12-point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins), and must be at least 500 words double-spaced (excluding title page). When discussing the event, students must draw from class material when relevant. If you are unsure about the credibility of your source, do not hesitate to email me (dlwalke1@olemiss.edu).
