Jung saw the collective unconscious as a great reservoir of archetypal images and experiences. But how does Jung’s collective unconscious differ from what we generally refer to as culture?

Discuss two of your favorite “archetypal heroes or villains” (e.g., Superman, Jack Bauer, Batgirl, Black Widow, Michone on Walking Dead. Mary Poppins, etc). They can be from any source as long as they are not real.

Do you think that their appeal is because of cultural factors or is it something deeper, as Jung’s theory indicates?
